Dominique Piqugard, MTA

Hi, my name is Dominique Piqugard. I am a MTA* (or Certified Music Therapist). I am the founder of UB Music-que, and have been studying music for over 30 years. I studied Jazz and Classical voice in Montreal with private voice teachers. I then pursued music studies at Vanier College, followed by my Bachelors in Fine Arts at York University, focusing my studies on singing and choral music from around the world. In 2014, I pursued a Graduate Certificate in Music Therapy from Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec. I acquired my MTA qualifications in November 2015 from the Canadian Association of Music Therapists (CAMT) through the Certified Board of Music Therapists (CBMT).

Born from my own medical struggles as a child, my curiosity of music with my love of singing, playing piano, and song-writing lead me to make use of music as a way to reframe my life experiences through creative exploration and self-expression. Through this process, music became a grounding tool and a creative means to explore and express my inner world through rhythm, metaphor, melody, and harmony.

I am a practicing Certified Music Therapist in South-Eastern New Brunswick, offering and encouraging more quality music therapy services in the area. I am a member in good standing with the Canadian Association of Music Therapists (CAMT) as well as with the Atlantic Association of Music Therapy (AAMT). I am also a member of NB COPES, a family centred grief care organization.
